Proposal for MovieTeaserPoster

Executive Summary
This project required me to produce an A3 size print for a movie teaser poster. The film of this project is a fictional Intellectual Property. This particular movie teaser poster is part of the movie industry or to be exact it is under movie poster industry.

The design of the movie poster is important in communicating with the audience, how it works to attract the target audience attention and it is important to show how creativity actually helps to promote a movie in the movie industry. Objective of the this project is to attract the target audience to actually pay for attention to this movie that it is coming soon and looking forward to go to the cinema and watch the movie.

Target Audience
My target audience for this project are mostly teenagers and adult which aged around 15 to 30 years old. The details that I have consider with regards to the audience is that having less explicit language. Language that I will be using for this movie will be Malay, English and Chinese as this is a local made movie. The 3 languages approach will be more friendly towards the Malaysian audience.

Project Goals
The movie teaser poster goals is to attract Malaysian audience who are into science fiction movie and being supportive to local movie. In a way, the movie teaser poster is trying to attract people to visit Kuala Lumpur as the Petronas Twin Tower is shown in the poster.

Design Hook & Plot
The synopsis of the story is the university students are having their one day trip at Kuala Lumpur when the alien suddenly start their invasion. They will be going to the evacuation point together, they are required to use all their survival skills and together with the army they fight their way through to the evacuation point. It is trying to show how the will of the human can actually change the fate of the earth.

Visual Concept
The visual of this movie teaser poster is more like the world is at war, using more warm color and mood. There are several destruction of buildings in the poster to show that roughly what this movie is all about and a spaceship was placed at the sky but not totally exposed to make it look more mysterious.

These are a few inspiration that I refer to when I'm doing my poster
I want to add in a bit of like destruction feeling and have mood from Battle of LA.
As the location took place is KL Malaysia, I would put in like Petronas Twin Tower to show that this incident or the content of the movie happen in Malaysia.

So on the left side, this is actually the second tryout I made for movie teaser poster. I wanted to put like solder/students but the result wasn't really well so I decided to make a new one for the teaser poster.

After tutorial, I was suggested to remove the title and change the perspective because it was wrong in terms of perspective and the color was not that satisfying and attractive.






Then the new one was made, this is the 3rd version of my movie poster teaser. I put in Petronas Twin Tower and a bridge.
I want the audience to understand that this movie take place in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Using the angle, I try to make Petronas Twin Tower look tall and having a alien space ship behind the tower and clouds to show a mysterious feeling.

Tutorial : Put the shadow of the alien instead of the students/soldier and add some tint and mood to the poster.

Visual concept is similar to BATTLE OF LA which shows more like the destruction of building. The difference between my poster and the BattleOfLA is that I showed part of my alien spaceship whereas the BattleOfLA showed like the rocket smoke/explosion.

Target Audience
My target audience for this project are mostly teenagers and adult which aged around 15 to 30 years old, that is why I feel composing the poster this way could actually attract their attention to go and watch the movie.

Movie name : Invasion

*Updating*
An idea of making a Action, War, Sci-Fi genre movie.
The invasion of alien attacking our earth and this time Malaysia is one of the places involved.
Soldiers are sent to defend our country and there was a mass destruction of the cities due to the alien's firing power.
Reasons why I chose Malaysia as the background because I was wondering what will happen if the invasion happen in Malaysia.
Movie name : Invasion.

-They come when we least expect it

Introduction : Few main actor including male and female are having their one day trip at one of the places in Malaysia where the alien suddenly start their invasion to earth. My focusing are is at Kuala Lumpur because its the best place to represent Malaysia. I also want to promote Program Latihan Khidmat Negara(PLKN) at the same time, not everyone know how to fire a gun, but thanks to the program they know how to adapt themselves when it comes to things that they don't really expect.

Climax : While they are running away from the alien to save themselves, they have to take the gun that were left and fight their way to the gathering point. This is when all they can use their training during PLKN and survive throughout this whole invasion.

Falling action : The human army win the war, the aliens retreat. United States will be defeating the aliens where its not the main point of the film, the point is Malaysians are able to protect themselves when the alien invaded Malaysia too when we least expected it.End : A lot of buildings were destroyed and collapsed, where it takes time for all the countries to fix their country.

What led to the birth of Hollywood? what is your personal view of Hollywood? Name 5 Hollywood films that have changed the movie industry and describe the respective changes.
The Jews can be said to be the founder of Holloywood, because the movies that they have been producing are better and created dreams. My personal view of Hollywood is that they have bring movie and acting to a brand new level, they created dreams for people who wanted to be an actor. Hollywood allows movie producer to compete with each other and improve their movie from time to time and the idea of a movie can bring some affection to how people think especially for the Sci-Fi movie. One of the movie I think that have changed the movie industry is Star Wars, although it is not the first film that uses special effect, but as the first episode Star Wars : A New Hope (1977) gave me an impression which I could not forget since I was a child. It give me the question like is it really happening? The brilliant part about Star Wars is that they try to involve different type of creatures and planet into their movie and they have like a lot of main actor for different episode. They are relating the 6 episodes with each other and the audience are still able to understand the whole storyline. Another reason I said StarWars film changed the movie industry is that it has a strong identity until now, let's say when we see a light saber or Darth Vader helmet, we can still recognize them. Their merchandise is a success too. A lot of toys and tools are created and sell based on the concept of Star Wars, a lot of advertisement from company such as Volkswagen, Lego, Pepsi and etc were made based on the Star Wars character.
The second film that I think have changed the movie industry is Avatar. The movie brought us to another level of visual. I was amazed by the graphic in the Avatar movie and I even bought the Blu-Ray version as my collection. It was said to have changed the 3D glasses technology in cinema. It was one of the most successful Sci-Fi and Adventure movie that people could not forget easily. The idea of floating rock and fountain in Pandora might have changed people's point of view on creativity when producing a film. The amazing technical improvement have led Hollywood to become better and most of the new film nowadays are starting to have the feeling that the movie Avatar is trying to give.
I have to be honest that I only have 2 opinion because I still don't really understand how Hollywood works and I don't want to just copy and paste from other website, sorry for my bad english too.

Games
What is the relationship between colour technology and video games? Describe how dominant Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are in the history of video games?
-In my opinion, the relationship between colour technology and video games are they are improving from time to time so that they are compatible with each other. The game industry will keep improving their graphic and colours, same goes to the colour technology. The gaming console for video games are improving the number of colour from  a Sega Master System(1985) which has 32 colours to Sega Dreamcast(1997) 16.7million colours. After the Sharp Quatron 3D Tv was introduced, we now have 16.7billion colours for the video games which is possible to make the graphic look as real as possible and that all depends on how the creator making full use of the colours.

Music
How did the music industry began and what has happened since then? what was the impact of digital technology to the music industry? Is piracy killing the music industry
At the dawn of the early 20th century, the recording of sound began to function as a disruptive technology to the commercial interests publishing sheet music. Digital technology affect how the music was published. From the big piece plate of cd to a smaller one and then the walkman generation. Soon there was invention of Ipod. And now people can easily store their music in a pendrive or usb drive. People can also store their music in their mobile phone or smart phone. Piracy is not the enemy, obecurity is. The internet has no borders because of the technology, which means people can find their favourite music online easily.

Tv
How dominating was the television and what has Youtube and Netflix fone to the broadcast industry?
During 1959, around 42000000 American homes have television and some have 2 sets already. On 1972, half of the american have a color television and the first pay-TV network, Home Box Office (HBO) was launched. Later on, billions was spent on wiring  of America and billions on program development. Netflix was established on 1997 and it ships 2million DVDs to customers each day. Netflix allows people to watch movies & TV shows anytime, anywhere for one low monthly prices. Netflix allow people to watch their favourite movie on any device such as Xbox, PlayStation3, Wii, Mac, Mobile, TV and more. I think Netflix allow people to save their time and enjoy their entertainment at home, which is time-saving and some people feel more comfortable to watch movie at home. It is like something similar to Astro in Malaysia, but Netflix is not available in our country yet.

Describe theme park industry and how dominant is Disney compared to its competitors?
Disney is dominant compared to its competitors because it has a lot of Disney characters that the child can recognize and the fantasy they can feel when they are going to Disneyland. It is like a fairy land for the child to go and experience making them feeling like a princess and prince because there is a castle for every Disneyland. The technology of the ride and video games in Disneyland are also improving from time to time. The ride in Disneyland is not the best one but they have the best concept comparing to its competitors like six flags.

Digital Revolution
What kind of revolution is digital? how have conventional media owners responded to the digital content revolution? what about the issue of free and paid content?
